Rooted in the blues, he began studying with Chicago blues legends at an early age and has since performed Black American Music both in the U.S. and internationally. After graduating from the renowned Brubeck Institute of the University of the Pacific, MILANO released his debut album in 2021, entitled DANTE. Classically trained, MILANO’s compositions are largely inspired by intersecting genres that don’t traditionally merge. MILANO has played and produced with artists of varying genres such as Carl Allen, Lewis Nash, Terrell Stafford, Rodney Whittaker, Omar Apollo, Kenny Beats, Chance the Rapper, Peter Cottontail, New Direction, and more. Working with musically diverse musicians for over a decade led him to explore hip-hop, electronic, and pop music, which all translate through his musical style. With an exhibited fluency in leaping between genres, some of his major influences include John Hicks, Art Blakey, J Dilla, Roy Hargrove, Chopin, John P. Kee, Hiatus Kaiyote, and Miles Davis. Aside from piano, MILANO also plays other related instruments, including the synthesizer, keytar, and Fender Rhodes.
