Whalum, a singer, songwriter, arranger, and producer, traded his saxophone for a microphone, building off his contemporary jazz success to create soft ballads and pensive alternative soul. After touring worldwide with Maxwell and working on his 2010 jazz album "To Those Who Believe," he realized the importance of incorporating lyrics into his music. Taking a step away from a supportive role, Whalum seized the opportunity to stand as a solo vocalist in the limelight. You might've heard him on Jay-Z's "Roc Boys (And the Winner Is...)," Mac Miller's "Ladders," or been particularly moved by Whalum's "Might Not Be OK" featuring Big K.R.I.T. This song responds to the unsettling racial and political climate that persists today. In the late 2010s, Whalum introduced "Broken Land" and "Beautiful Ending," projects featuring notable tracks like "Last" and "Ghost Town." These releases showcased his talent blending soul, R&B, jazz, and blues. Outside his solo work, Kenneth keeps busy across many genres, recently contributing to Beyoncé's Grammy-winning, platinum-selling album 'Renaissance' on the track entitled "Pure/Honey." Full band lineup: Kenneth Whalum, vocals/sax Nazir Ebo, drums Butler Knowles, bass Vittorio Stropoli, keys
