As a current member of Bob Weir & Wolf Bros, Mads has appeared on three record releases and performed in over a hundred concerts. He has twice been commissioned to write crossover violin concertos, showcasing his jazz and fiddle expertise while soloing with symphony orchestras. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Mads leads his own bands, touring across the U.S., Europe, and Japan. His albums have been featured on NPR Morning Edition and have received glowing reviews in The Washington Post and the San Francisco Chronicle. This evening, Mads Tolling is teaming up with longtime collaborator, pianist Frank Martin. For the past 20 years, Frank has been a member of Sting’s Rainforest Band, performing annually at Carnegie Hall alongside James Taylor, Elton John, Billy Joel, and many others. Joining Mads and Frank is the spectacular bassist Gary Brown. The trio will perform fresh instrumental arrangements of works by great American Songbook composers, including Hoagy Carmichael, Sonny Rollins, and Miles Davis.
