In the spirit of sharing fresh music throughout the year, this special evening promises an intimate glimpse into Levine’s ever-evolving artistry. Levine's debut album, Attention Deficit (2017), showcased his innovative approach to blending Black American Music and world music fusion. His second album, Love, Loss, Depression, and Pixels, continues this exploration, offering a deeply personal take on themes of heartbreak, mental health, and resilience—much of it written during a year-long retreat in California’s high desert near Joshua Tree. Levine’s versatility has made him a sought-after collaborator in the hip-hop and pop worlds, performing on Mon Laferte's Grammy-winning album Norma and contributing to Grammy-nominated projects such as Jay-Z's 4:44, Jhene Aiko's Chilombo, and the Free Nationals' debut album. He has also worked with iconic artists including Beyoncé, Kanye West, Stevie Wonder, Harry Styles, and Leon Bridges, and has performed at premier festivals and venues across five continents. A founding member of the experimental ensemble Katalyst and an alumnus of UCLA’s ethnomusicology program, Levine brings a rich blend of influences to his performances. Join him at the Black Cat for a night of artistry that bridges his Bay Area roots with the cutting-edge creativity of Los Angeles.
